Process Paper
Section One; Why we chose our
topic: The main reason that we chose the topic of The National Security
Act of 1947, was the fact that it was not that well known, and that it created
the CIA. This really called to us because we have some close acquaintances that
are involved very much in the CIA, and Pentagon areas, so the subject was
already pretty well known and studied to us. Another reason was that, any old
government acts very much so interest us, and we sometimes like to study many of
them outside of school as extracurricular activities, so naturally this
attracted us like moths to a flame.
Section Two; How we conducted
our research: We met as a group to start our search online. We were able
to get the original document from the internet and some official government
websites discussing how the Act affected certain military or domestic groups.
After the meeting, Thomas went to our school and community libraries while
Joshua searched for any more online documentation relating to the time period or
how the Act affected the nation today.
Section Three; How we chose
our entry type: Joshua was already adapted to using Weebly for website
creation, so we deemed it would be easier to make our project online. In doing
so, sharing what we have done on our website and dividing the workload was
easier.
Section Four; How the Topic
Relates to the Theme: The topic, The National Security Act of 1947
relates to the theme, Turning Points In History, because it greatly impacted and
changed the United States security and espionage force. Because the U.S. had
just been in WWII, it thought that having better security forces would be a good
idea, so it created the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to help keep the
nation safe from foreign forces. This was also a major turning point in the
espionage community, because the CIA became the national spy force. Keeping
track of many national and international occurrences to better help keep the
U.S. safe.
